A Note From Cate: 2020 Year-End Reflections
A quarterly note from BBCIC Executive Director Cate Lockhart, MS, PharmD, PhD.
Dear BBCIC Enthusiasts,
As 2020 comes to an end (finally?), it has been fun to reflect on the many accomplishments of our small but mighty consortium! Due to the pandemic, we had fewer opportunities to present our work at scientific and professional meetings, although, we still presented four abstracts, presented on the podium twice, and via webinar once. We have three manuscripts currently in peer-review, anxiously awaiting publication even with notably longer review periods at nearly every journal.
Although AMCP Nexus converted to a virtual platform this year, BBCIC Participants convened virtually for our annual half-day workshop in October. We dug into our current research projects and discussed the BBCIC Strategic Plan and priorities for 2021 and beyond. Even though we missed the energy of being together in person, the discussion was lively and engaging, and we accomplished a lot. Stay tuned for more information on the BBCIC Strategic Plan, as we continue to grow in exciting ways.
We continue to make progress across all our research programs. We anxiously await the findings and recommendations from the oncology data feasibility assessment workgroup, and with our G-CSF CER protocol now approved by the Science Committee, we are full-steam-ahead on that exciting project! Please see the Quarterly Newsletter for a full list of our 2020 accomplishments, and a sneak peek into what we have planned for 2021!
To close out this tumultuous year, I hope we can all take some time to refresh and recharge, recognizing that we did a lot this year, and faced a lot. I for one anxiously await 2021 and what it may bring, especially for BBCIC as we charge into the next phase of science and research. With your continued support and engagement, I can only imagine where we will reach.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
Cate Lockhart, MS, PharmD, PhD
